Beautiful, moves me to tears. Outstanding performance calling us all to work for the human rights of those seeking our protection. The cruelty of mandatory detention on and offshore is unconscionable. We must work hard to change what is happening. Not in our name. Thank you Essie.

about
This was originally written in 2015, about children in detention, but now it is also for those still being held on Manus and Nauru. Everyone is someone's child.
Pay what you can - all proceeds go to ASRC (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre) who provide legal and financial aid to those seeking asylum in Australia.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Each day it begins with a humid wind
I hope there's a drink of water
The sun burns my skin, there's dust in everything
I can't understand the teacher
Or the other children but I know what they're thinking
I don't wanna be stuck here, I don't wanna be here no more
Just wanna be home now, lay my head down down
Go back to my country, carry on as usual
Mum said we're not allowed, we had to get out, home's here now
But how can we make a home in hell?
Each day, well it ends, the sun goes down again
We talk in the tent of rumours
Some say we are welcome, others think we trespass
I don't wanna be stuck here, I don't wanna be here no more
Just wanna be home now, lay my head down down
Go back to my country, carry on as usual
Mum said we're not allowed, we had to get out, home's here now
But how can we make a home in hell?
If the only things we're learning from this new land
Is that sweat can pool in places you never imagined
And that doorways only open in one direction
I don't wanna be stuck here, I don't wanna be here no more
Just wanna be home now, lay my head down down down
Will I ever be free again, carry on as usual?
Mum said without a doubt, any day now, we'll get out
But how can we
How can we
How can we make a home in hell?
